Diego Ceretta was born in Milano and at only 26 is already considered one of the most promising exponents
of the new golden generation of young Italian conductors.
He first had occasion to work with the ORT last year on a tour of concerts in Tuscany in the Medici Villas.
There was an immediate connection with the orchestra, that was further cemented a few days ago
with highly successful concerts in Tuscany and Florence.
A rising star of the baton, in 2023 Ceretta will be one of the very few to conduct
in the same year at three festivals famous for the launch of young conductors:
the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca, the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and the
Wexford Festival Opera (Ireland), where he will open the Festival with Donizetti’s opera Zoraida di Granata.
Daniele Spini, recently nominated artistic director of the ORT, had this comment:
“I am very happy Diego Ceretta has accepted the position of Principal Conductor with the ORT.
When you spot such a talent, the only thing to do is to hold on to him!”.
